Four injured in crash on main road out of south Bristol

Four people were treated for minor injuries following a crash that brought traffic to a standstill on a main route out of Bristol this evening.

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene of the two-car collision, which happened on the A37 Bristol Road in Whitchurch Village, close to Sleep Lane and the Queen Charlton turn-off.

Firefighters from Temple Fire Station said four people were treated for minor injuries, and both cars were made safe by firefighters.

A spokesperson for the fire brigade said that one of the car was a hybrid, ‘which poses extra dangers to first rescuers’.

The crash appears to have been a head-on collision between two vehicles on the southbound side of the main A37.

Traffic was tailed back as far as the A4174 Airport Road ring road at one stage during Tuesday evening’s rush hour.
