A Welsh guesthouse owner was left furious when his Abergavenny guesthouse received an underpayment from their fellow guests on Channel 4's Four in a Bed. Mike Hayward, who runs Deri-Down Guesthouse with his wife Del, stormed out of the room after learning they had been underpaid.
Despite being paid in full by the other guests, Antoinette Stretton and Carmen Cretu who run the Seacrest Hotel in Portsmouth were left disappointed with their stay at Deri-Down Guesthouse. They were charged £80 for their stay and only paid £68 meaning a £12 underpayment.
Antoinette and Carmen believed Mike and Del were charging too much for their rooms and said it was not "value for money". A furious Mike said: "I am just dumbfounded, I've got to be honest" while Del added: "I'm not happy with it either, I'm sorry" before Mike stormed out and slammed the door behind him.

This created a very awkward atmosphere when he returned and speaking to the cameras, Mike said: "I always judge people fairly and unfortunately in this circumstance, I found that Antoinette and Carmen didn't judge us as fairly as they judged others."
The underpayment meant that Mike, Del and the Deri-Down Guesthouse finished last in the show. Mike said: "Disappointed to come fourth, we will implement the changes that we have taken on board and we will grow with our guests and our business." The Deri-Down Guesthouse were not the only accommodation to receive a lower payment from Antoinette and Carmen. Mother and son duo Margaret and Fraser Mountford, who run the Royle Farm in Staffordshire, were also marked down by Antoinette and Carmen after they had to wait an hour for their breakfast.
