Four In A Bed contestant raced to hospital after life-threatening mistake during filming

Filming on Four In A Bed almost ended in tragedy after a contestant made a life-threatening mistake which saw their co-star rushed to hospital.

While filming of the Channel 4 programme has been put on pause due to the pandemic, iconic episodes are airing on the channel - which included an incredibly dramatic one involving pub owner Connor Richardson in 2017.

Connor, of The Red Lion Coaching Inn in Lincolnshire, was left terrified after a serious allergy oversight by a rival B&B owner.

He had appeared on the programme with mum Trish and is allergic to nuts, but was accidentally served porridge made with muesli containing hazelnuts.

The pair had been staying at The Schiehallion in Scotland when they sat down for breakfast.

Connor had asked for his porridge to be "plain with water", but ended up shouting "oh my god... oh my god!" after taking a mouthful.

His mum Trish was equally frantic after saying that she had forgotten to bring his EpiPen with her.

"It is actually very serious this guys," she told them. "Connor has a nut allergy. Can somebody take him to the doctors?"

The Schiehallion's manager Julie was horrified, apologising to Trish and saying that a "mistake was made in the kitchen".

As a result, Connor missed marking the B&B as he received medical treatment as Trish, who died in 2018 after an illness, gave the B&B a 4/10 for breakfast.

She told viewers: "When you have allergies it can be life threatening," while another contestant, also giving a poor 4 said: "The error was too significant."

Connor returned to filming for the final day and raised the issue of the porridge mishap - and he said he would have given them a 0 for breakfast.

Despite that, Connor and Trish still gave the B&B full payment.

Meanwhile Julie said that she wouldn't have charged a guest for the room if they had had the same experience.

There have been a number of Four In A Bed controversies over the years, including a contestant accused of sexism after marking down hosts for wearing tight jeans, a furious claim of hygiene going against human rights and one guest paying just £6.20 for a room.
