Four hospitalised after shooting, stabbing incidents in Melbourne

A man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg in the South Melbourne incident.

Four people are in hospital after a shooting and several stabbings in Melbourne overnight.

Police were called to a South Melbourne apartment tower just after 2:30am after receiving reports of a shooting.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

The armed crime squad is investigating the incident.

Earlier, a 54-year-old man suffered serious injuries in a stabbing in a street in Braybrook, in Melbourne's west, about 9:00pm.

The Melton man walked to a nearby pub to raise the alarm and is in a serious condition in hospital.

In a separate incident, two teenagers were injured during a fight in the car park of the Epping Plaza shopping centre in Melbourne's north.

Two boys were walking through the carpark when a vehicle pulled over shortly after 7:00pm and two men confronted them with a weapon.

One of the 17-year-old boys was stabbed in the chest and was taken to hospital in a serious condition. The other boy has minor injuries.

The suspects fled the scene and police are appealing for witnesses.

Last night fire crews were also called to a suspicious house fire at Heidelberg Heights, in Melbourne's north-east, where a vacant house was destroyed.
