Four homes for sale in Ireland for less than €50,000 right now with great potential

The housing market in Ireland can be a nightmare for first-time buyers and families that are in need of more space with prices reaching new heights.

Living in Irish cities is notoriously expensive, but if you look further afield you can find some "doer-uppers" for €50,000 or less at the moment.

So, if you’re on the hunt for a project that could end with you in a new family home, here are some of the most promising options under €50k in Ireland right now.

Lower Main Street, Ballyporeen, Tipperary

This terraced house located in the centre of Tipperary village is currently on the market for €45,000.

It’s in need of a facelift but is a three-bedroomed residence with a large back garden and shed.

The property is located around 10 minutes from Mitchelstown and the M8 Motorway Junction 12.

The ground floor houses a livingroom, hallway with hotpress, kitchen/dining room, and there are two bedrooms on second floor and one on third.

Doocarrick Post Office, Cootehill, Co Cavan

This four-bedroom country cottage was formerly a Post Office and is approaching auction for €35,000 with a lot of work needed.

As it’s in a derelict state, the building needs a full refurbishment but is situated on 0.32 acres on the Cootehill Belturbet road.

The four bedroom accommodation and shop area extends to 1356 sq.ft.

21 Leitrim Road, Kilkeel, Co Down

This partially completed detached house is situated in a quiet rural location in Co Down and has an asking price of €23,000.

The property is situated 3 miles from Kilkeel Town Centre and has beautiful views of the Mourne Mountains and surrounding countryside.

Full works are required to complete the build and bring it to its full potential, but at its current price, it could be worked into a higher budget.

Derinlurrig, Mount Talbot, Roscommon

This three bed cottage is 81 sq.mts and requires some major work before anyone could move in, so it’s going for €50,000.

The flat roof extension at the rear where the bathrooms are located is apparently in a derelict state, and so a lot of refurbishment would be needed.

However the realtor says it has unlimited potential and can be transformed into “a most desirable home or holiday retreat.”

The property is in a great location, just a short drive from the picturesque villages of Athleague Four Roads and Mount Talbot.

Athlone is just a 25-minute drive and Roscommon, 15 minutes by car.
