It's now the first week of the new year and while many of you are likely still recovering from Christmas and New Year's Eve parties there are still some games to look forward to this week.
In fact, 2022 is already shaping up to be a big year for videogame releases since many were delayed in the previous year.
And while lots of the big releases won't be coming out until the summer period, it doesn't mean you shouldn't be excited for this week's games launching on PlayStation.
This week's games include a dangerous sci-fi adventure, an enhanced popular Japanese title, the comeback of an old school icon, and DLC for a unique indie game.
Here's a breakdown of the four games coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 this week.
Happy New Year!
Deep Rock Galactic - Tuesday 4
Deep Rock Galactic is a cooperative first-person shooter that sees players choose one of four different classes of dwarf miners as they work on the inhospitable planet Hoxxes IV.
Players can choose to operate as a Driller, Scout, Engineer or Gunner as they navigate a complex system of underground caverns in search of valuable minerals.
There is also the choice to steal alien eggs while fighting off hordes of enemies with bonus missions and challenges to complete that will supposedly be updated frequently.
The game is also available for free for PS Plus subscribers.
Demon Gaze EXTRA - Thursday 6
The original Demon Gaze was launched in 2014 for western audiences on the PlayStation Vita which means many of you likely missed its launch if you didn't hop on the early portable gaming trend.
But, Kadokawa Games are now relaunching this title on PS4 with some graphical and tuning upgrades.
In this game, players take on the role of Oz a youngster who possesses the power of a magical eye that allows him to seal demons away.
There are a grand total of seven character classes and five different character races to choose from in the character creation screen which players can use to decide who will be joining Oz on his quest.
With a focus on dungeon crawling and building relationships with NPCs, Demon Gaze follows all the hallmarks of a classic Japanese RPG with a dramatic story for players to sink their teeth into.
Arcade Archives: Super Pac-Man - Thursday 6
Pac-Man is one of the few videogame characters that need no introduction, the circular yellow hero has been synonymous with arcade gaming for a few decades now.
But now our titular character is making a comeback on PS4 with the classic arcade-style gameplay he's become associated with.
Players must control Pac-Man as he traverses through increasingly difficult mazes while avoiding being caught by the classic enemy ghosts.
Dead Cells: The Queen & The Sea - Thursday 6
Dead Cells is a game all about learning from your mistakes - when you first enter the game, it probably won't take long for you to die.
Players take on the role of a reanimated corpse who must fight its way through a monster-infested dungeon while earning loads of upgrades and abilities to give an edge in combat.
The new set of DLC for the game, The Queen & The Sea, adds two new biomes for players to experience - The Infested Shipwreck and The Lighthouse.
These new nautical biomes will introduce players to a rotten shipwreck filled with eldritch enemies while The Lighthouse adds new vertical means of exploration and new environmental dangers that will keep players on their toes.
