Four flood alerts have been issued in Greater Manchester this morning.

Water levels are likely to remain high until midday, the Environment Agency warns.

The region was battered with heavy downpours on Monday evening.

And rain is expected to continue to fall all morning, clearing at around 3pm.

Flood alerts have been issued in the following areas:

Upper River Irwell catchment with Oldham, Bolton, Rochdale, Haslingden, Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall

The alert, on the Environment Agency website, says: "We believe there is a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads around the Rivers Irwell, Beal, Roch and Croal, Limy Water and their tributaries."

Water levels are expected to remain high until around midday.

Lower River Irwell catchment including areas in Greater Manchester

Areas at risk of flooding include the Rivers Irwell, Irk, Medlock and Worsley Brooks and their tributaries.

Water levels are expected to remain high 'throughout the day'.

"There is a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads around the River Mersey and Micker, Cringle, Sinderland and Poynton Brooks and their tributaries", according to the Environment Agency.

The alert is in place until midday today.

River Mersey Uplands catchment including Hyde, Ashton-under-Lyne, Denton, Stalybridge and Glossop

The alert is in place for low lying land and roads around the Rivers Goyt, Tame, Sett and Etherow and their tributaries.

Water levels are expected to remain high until around midday today.

The flood alerts follow a period of heavy downpours brought on by Storm Ciara last month.

Around 150 properties in Greater Manchester were flooded during the storm.

Homes in Radcliffe and Redvales were evacuated, while properties in Ramsbottom were flooded.
