Four deer killed after getting impaled on fences running from dogs with no leads in Phoenix Park

Four Phoenix Park deer had to be put down by park rangers after getting impaled on fences while running from dogs.

The heartbreaking incidents all happened over 2018 with people being urged to keep their dogs on leads when in the park.

Rangers told The Times Ireland that 134 deer have died since the beginning of 2018, with 29 of those having to be put down after being found injured.

A further 94 were culled with their meat being sold on to suppliers.

There are currently around 550 roaming wild in the mammoth city park.
