Four cyclists taken to hospital after crash with a car on Valleys mountain road

Four cyclists have been left seriously injured after a crash on a mountain road.

Some have "life-changing injuries" according to the Welsh Ambulance Service.

The incident, which also involved a car, happened at 9.57am on Saturday, April 20, on a road near Bedlinog mountain.

All four cyclists were injured. One has serious head injuries and a fractured thigh, one has a shoulder injury, a third with a facial injury and another with a fractured leg, according to an Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman.

Three were taken to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil and one was taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant.

She said: "None of the injuries were life threatening but some were life-changing.

"We left the scene at 12.16pm."

Both Gwent and South Wales Police were asked to comment and said they did not attend the incident.
