Four construction sites have been closed down for "serious" COVID-19 rule breaches, with one non-complying business being issued a caution by ACT Policing.
Inspectors issued eight prohibitions and 27 improvement notices during a three and a half hour period in Strathnairn on Thursday, September 16.
"I am extremely disappointed with what I am seeing today. I have seen multiple and serious breaches of the WHS laws and the requirements for working COVID safe during lockdown," Work Health and Safety Commissioner Jacqueline Agius said.
"There were very few workplaces today that were COVID compliant ... A number of these breaches were so significant that I called in ACT Policing to assist us, who have issued a caution to one particular business."
The breaches come as the ACT records 15 new active COVID-19 cases, with 11 reported as linked to existing cases and outbreaks. Five were in quarantine for their infectious period, nine people are in hospital, and one in intensive care.
Inspected worksites were reported as having inadequate COVID Safety Plans, no COVID marshals, and no or incorrect QR codes.
There were also a number of WHS breaches relating to site security, site induction, falls from heights, inadequate supervision of workers, and a lack of suitable amenities.
