Four children charged with burning down former Big Brother house

Four children have been charged with burning down the former Big Brother house near Dreamworld on Queensland's Gold Coast.

Queensland Police said the children, aged between 11 and 15 years old, were charged with arson, while two nine-year-old children were released after assisting police with inquiries.

It is alleged the group attended the unoccupied house on Foxwell Road in Coomera about 2:15pm on Saturday and deliberately started a fire.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene but the house, which was used in the production of the reality television series, was completely destroyed in the blaze.

The children were seen by witnesses running towards nearby Railway Road where they were arrested by police.

Big Brother ran for 11 seasons between 2001 and 2014.

The house has been owned by the Queensland Investment Corporation since July 2009.

Earlier this year, Australian YouTuber MuiTube entered the property, showing the house in disrepair as well as the extent of damage caused by vandals.
