CHENNAI: Police registered a cheating case against four people, one of them claimed to have worked as an assistant to Union minister Kishan Reddy, for promising to get a BJP functionary a party ticket to contest in the state assembly election held this year.
In his complaint, Bhuvanesh Kumar claimed to have paid 50 lakh to the four. The four are Narothaman, who claimed to be the then assistant of Reddy, his father Chitti Babu (from Hyderabad) along with Vijayaraman and his son Siva Balaji from Perambur. Kumar, BJP's Arani town president, said Vijayaraman had introduced him to Narothaman. 1crore was demanded against a ticket from Kumar.
He paid 50 lakh in cash to the four. When his name was not on the list, he wanted the money back. As they refused, he lodged a complaint and a case was registered on Thursday.
