Four charged over $3.75m ice shipment

NSW Police arrest a man in connection with 15kg of ice discovered inside an industrial motor. (AAP)

Four men have been charged with attempting to import drugs after border officials found $3.75 million worth of ice inside an industrial motor.

The power drive unit, shipped from the USA, was examined on October 20 and found to contain 15 kilograms of methylamphetamine.

NSW detectives, border officials and Australian Federal Police officers then began investigating.

Detectives searched a business at Fairfield and two properties at Cabramatta and Canley Vale on Thursday.

During the searches, officers seized the ice as well as 6.2kg of cocaine, 1kg of heroin, $600,000 in cash, and heat-sealing machines.

The combined estimated potential street value of the drugs seized is more than $16 million, police said.

Four men, two in their 20s and two in their 30s, were arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station.

They were charged with attempting to import a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug, supplying a prohibited drug and participating in a criminal group.

They were refused bail on Thursday and are to reappear in court on Friday.
