Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce handed Ryan Fraser a start for the clash at Elland Road.
The Scotland international’s return came after a hamstring injury sustained last month while Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick also found himself back on the team sheet.
Bruce named Federico Fernandez as captain with Jonjo Shelvey benched alongside Miguel Almiron with Jacob Murphy also restored to the starting XI.
Almiron had scored at the weekend against West Brom but Bruce stated before the game “one or two” players would be rested and he was true to his word.
With Newcastle looking to take advantage of the height factor Andy Carroll was also on the bench after recovering from a knock in training.
