CHAI NAT: Four districts of this Central province - Muang, Manorom, Wat Sing and Sapphaya - are still inundated, affecting more than 3,000 households.

Sapphaya district is hardest-hit, with 2,800 houses more than 1 metre under water.

The situation is worst at Wat Wang Sakhon community in tambon Pho Nang Dam Ok of Sapphaya district.  The community has been flooded for nearly one month and the stagnant water has decayed, sending bad smells, while the residents' food supplies and other necessities are running out.

The disaster prevention and mitigation office of Chai Nat will today dispatch necessities to the residents of Wat Wang Sakhon community. The provincial land development office will provide EM balls for the residents to treat the polluted water.

The Royal Irrigation Department is still discharging water at the Chao Phraya Dam in Sapphaya district at the rate of 2,700 cu/m per second while the northern run-off is running past Nakhon Sawan at the rate of 2,879 cu/m per second.

On Sunday moring, the water level on the upper part of the dam was 17.31m above the mean sea level, about 3 centimetres lower.

About 200 riverside households in Manorom and Muang districts of Chai Nat are still flooded.

The water level below the dam remains at 16.03m above the MSL for the 5th day.
