Four Call Lane bars shut after staff member tests positive for coronavirus

Four popular bars in Leeds city centre have closed after a worker tested positive for coronavirus.

Power Corruption and Lies, Oporto Bar, Jakes Bar and Neon Bar, which are all run by Akito Bar Group, have all been closed as a “precautionary measure.”

In a joint statement online posted today (Monday), the bars which were open during the bank holiday weekend said they have “suspended service” so all staff members can be tested for the virus and a deep clean will be carried out at the sites.

It reads: “To all of our wonderful guests, we are sorry to advise you that one of our staff members, from our company, has tested positive for COVID-19 and, as a precautionary measure, we have temporarily suspended service to allow us to send all of our staff members to be tested.

“The health and safety of our staff and our guests is absolutely paramount. We are working with Public Health England to follow the correct steps and a full deep clean will be carried out in all sites.

“If you are deemed to be at risk then NHS track & trace will contact you directly.

“We will open our doors again once it’s safe to do so.

“Thank you to all our loyal customers for your continued support and patience in these unprecedented times.”
