Jan. 18--A series of burglaries damaged businesses along North Kedzie Avenue over the past month on the Northwest Side, police said.
Four incidents occurred between Dec. 31 and Tuesday during late evening and early morning hours along a half-a-mile stretch of Kedzie Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood, according to an alert from Chicago Police Department's Office of News Affairs.
In all four burglaries, an unknown offender, who was wearing dark clothing and had a covered face, shattered a front glass door or a window of a business with a brick or a concrete block. The offender then entered and stole property from the business, according to the alert.
The latest burglary happened Tuesday around 5:15 a.m. in the 4700 block of North Kedzie Avenue, according to the alert.
Two more incidents happened on Jan. 11 at 10:30 p.m. and on Jan. 8 at 1:30 a.m. in the 4900 block of North Kedzie Avenue.
The first burglary occurred on New Year's Eve around 6 a.m. in the 4500 block of North Kedzie Avenue.
Police encourage residents and business owners to alert others in the area about this pattern of crimes.
Business owners should also equip their establishments with a working video surveillance and alarm system.
