Four bombshells as witnesses for Johnny Depp take to the stand in Amber Heard trial

The trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continued on Tuesday as it gets set to reach its conclusion at the end of the week in Virginia.

Johnny Depp, 58, is suing his ex-wife for $50 million as he alleges she defamed him in an article for The Washington Post in 2018, in which Amber, 36, said she was a victim of domestic abuse.

He vehemently denies the allegations, but the actress launched a countersuit against him, suing him for $100 million.

Here, we take a look as some of the latest bombshells.

Depp loses bid to dismiss Heard's counterclaim

Judge Penney Azcarate denied an attempt by Depp to dismiss his ex-wife's counterclaim on Tuesday.

Heard's claim is that Depp's attorney, Adam Waldman, defamed her and caused damage to her career by accusing her and several friends of starting an "abuse hoax".

It was claimed by Depp's attorney in the case, Ben Chew, that Waldman was simply offering an opinion so didn't commit defamation.

He also argued that no evidence was available to show Depp knew about Waldman's statements before the counterclaim was filed.

Chew said: "He [Depp] did believe, and will to his dying day, that Ms. Heard’s claims of abuse were patently false.

Trailer park owner says Depp was 'cowering' during argument with Heard

After describing how the pair had gone to a "fancy trailer park" in 2013 and made a plan to do "laughy drugs" with friends, Heard said during her testimony how the pair's night took a turn.

Heard claimed Depp performed "a cavity search" on her while looking for drugs, Morgan Night explained he didn't see Depp shout at his then-partner on the night in question.

Night said Depp appeared to be "cowering" as the actress yelled at him.

The trailer park owner told the court: "He, honestly, throughout the rest of the night became a lot more quiet."

Depp's '90s ex Kate Moss set to testify

Moss has unexpectedly found herself being dragged into the case after Heard claimed in court that Depp pushed her down a flight of stairs during their high-profile three year relationship.

The couple became an item following a chance meeting at a New York City café called Tabac in 1994.

And now the supermodel is set to take to the stand on Wednesday and is thought to be ready to shut down Heard's claim that Depp once pushed her down the stairs.

Heard brought up the incident in court but it's thought a rebuff by Moss could throw Heard's case into jeopardy.

Heard's potential losses 'not comparable' to other Hollywood stars

Entertainment lawyer Richard Marks rebutted claims made by industry expert Kathryn Arnold on Monday which said Heard's combined loss of earnings, following claims made by Depp's former lawyer Adam Waldman that her accusations were "fake" and a "hoax", was about $45m- $50m.

Marks dismissed comparisons made by Arnold of Heard's potential career trajectory to that of Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot, her Aquaman co-star Jason Momoa and Chris Pine, among others.

"They are not comparable", he said.

Speaking about Arnold's testimony, he said: "My overall assessment of her opinions is that they are not worth the paper they are not written on."
