Four bikers were stabbed at Knutsford Services but police have had to close the investigation

A police investigation into the stabbing of four bikers at Knutsford Services has been closed - because the victims are not co-operating with detectives.

The incident, which took place on June 8 at the M6 service station, saw the four bikers taken to hospital by both ambulance and air ambulance.

Their injuries were not life threatening, and all have since been discharged from hospital, Cheshire Live reports .

A closure was  put in place on the M6 northbound carriageway  following the brutal attack.

Initially police put out an appeal in the weeks following the stabbings.

However, officers have been forced to close the case, a police spokesman told  CheshireLive  .

The reason given was that the victims of the stabbing were reportedly unwilling to engage with officers.

As a result  Cheshire Constabulary  was unable to pursue any other lines of enquiry.

The case was then closed with no arrests made - and the attacker or attackers still at large.

At the time of the incident, police say they were called shortly after 2pm following reports of a 'disturbance' at the service station.

A statement released by Cheshire Constabulary said: "At 2.02pm on Saturday 8 June police received reports of four men on motorbikes having received stab wounds following a disturbance at Knutsford services on the M6.

"Four men have been taken to hospital by ambulance and air ambulance with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

"Officers will be patrolling Knutsford services to provide reassurance.

"A closure was put in place between junction 19 to junction 20 on the M6 northbound but this has now been lifted."
