Four arrests after huge haul of prescription medication stolen from chemist

Four people have been arrested after a huge haul of prescription medication was stolen from a chemist in Stockport.

Police were called to a break-in at a pharmacy in the Brinnington area at around 10.20pm on Wednesday night (December 14). Officers believe the suspects forced their way in and stole a large quantity of medication.

This morning (Friday), four people were arrested in connection with the incident. Two men - aged 42 and 45 - and two women - aged 37 and 46 - remain in custody to be quizzed by officers.

Detective Constable Kelly Jones of Stockport CID said: "The illegal use of prescription drugs can be extremely dangerous and can have devastating consequences if used inappropriately. A crucial part of the work GMP do to tackle the use of prescription medication is through information from members of the public to help identify enforcement opportunities around individuals or vehicles.

"I would like to encourage anyone concerned about drugs in their area to report it online at www.gmp.police.uk, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. The information you supply can prove vital in our investigations."
