Four arrested on suspicion of burglary after police pursue 'stolen vehicle'

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of burglary after police pursued an allegedly stolen vehicle in Manchester.

The Hyundai, which was being driven using what police say were false licence plates, was followed through the Moston and Harpurhey areas of the city by Greater Manchester Police on Monday afternoon before being abandoned.

Four people then allegedly attempted to evade capture by hiding in shrubs and undergrowth.

However, all of the four were detained after sniffer dogs and the National Police Air Service assisted with the search, with the quartet being arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Greater Manchester Police Traffic said in a statement on Twitter on Tuesday night: “This stolen vehicle on false plates was pursued throughout @Gmpmoston this afternoon by #XT41.

“Vehicle was abandoned and 4x offenders went to ground in the shrubs.

“With the assistance of #XT21, @GMPDogs and @NPASNorthWest all 4x offenders were located and arrested for burglary!”
