Four arrested in Sydney, $8m cash seized

Police seized more than $8 million in cash after searching properties in Sydney's inner west. (AAP)

Four people have been charged over a money laundering and drug ring in Sydney, with police seizing weapons and more than $8 million in cash.

Officers searched several properties on Wednesday in Burwood, Campsie and Rhodes.

At a unit in Rhodes, they located $3.1 million in cash, before later seizing a further $4.78 million found stashed in the boot of a car parked below the unit complex.

Several other large caches of cash, methylamphetamine and MDMA, and a prohibited extendable baton were located at three other properties during the searches.

Four people - two women, aged 27 and 48, and two men, aged 30 and 32 - were arrested, and all charged with multiple offences, including knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.

The 27-year-old Burwood woman is also charged with supplying a prohibited drug, while the 32-year-old Campsie man is charged with directing a criminal group and possessing a prohibited weapon.

All four have been refused bail and are due to face court on Thursday.
