Four arrested in connection with stolen vehicle in Mossley

Four people have been arrested in Mossley in connection with stealing a vehicle.

Greater Manchester Police used a helicopter to track the suspects after pursuing a vehicle that was believed to be stolen.

One male was found hiding nearby in a park and was in possession of a knife and drugs.

The police helicopter located three further suspects hiding underneath decking in a nearby school, with two of them found to be in possession of drugs.

All four are in custody awaiting questioning having been arrested on suspicion of stealing a car.

GMP Tameside North and East said in a statement on Facebook on Wednesday morning: “You may have noticed that our "noisy" helicopter was up over Mossley tonight after officers where involved in a pursuit with a suspected stolen vehicle.

“Just a quick update, after the pursuit, one male was located hiding in a nearby by park. He was found in possession of drugs and a knife.

“With the assistance of our "noisy" helicopter, three more suspects where found hiding under some decking in a nearby school, somewhere officers on foot would have struggled to search.

“Two of the three were found in possession of drugs and all four where arrested on the suspicion of stealing the car.

“They are currently in custody awaiting questioning. I will hopefully be able to provide more updates tomorrow.”
