Four arrested as stashes of cocaine and thousands in cash seized in Salford police raid

Four people have been arrested as stashes of class A drugs and thousands of pounds in cash were seized in a police raid.

Police arrested three men and a woman, as well as seizing a large amount of class A drugs on Sunday night.

The raid comes as part of Greater Manchester Police Salford's ongoing operation tackling an organised crime dispute in the city.

Officers from the Operation Naseby disruption hub - which was formed in April, 2020, after a violent incident in Salford - searched a home in Powell Street in the Clayton area on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

A total of £3,000 in cash was found, along with and half-an-ounce of suspected cocaine, the force has said.

Seven phones were also discovered and taken away as evidence to be used in other ongoing investigations.

A 25-year-old man was arrested for being wanted for a number of offences, and in connection with money laundering and possession of drugs with intent to supply. He remains in custody for questioning.

Two other men, both aged 25, and a woman, aged 22, were arrested on suspicion of money laundering and possession of drugs with intent to supply. They have been released under further investigation.

The police raid follows a recent flare up between organised crime groups in Salford and north Manchester, say police.

Dedicated teams of officers in both districts are continuing to work on the disputes between the groups.

Detective Chief Inspector Rick Thompson, of GMP's Salford district, said: "Sunday night saw us make an important impact on the scourge of organised crime in Salford and there is no doubt that this action will have disrupted this particular group.

"Our officers do work around the clock daily to keep combatting criminal groups operating in our city and we are committed to maintaining this level of action to keep decreasing the level of serious crime on our streets."
