Four arrested after police called to reports of man with gun in the street

Police have arrested four men after reports of someone walking down a street with a gun.

Armed officers were scrambled to Parkhills Road, Bury, just before 9pm last night (Monday November 22).

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Police later carried out a warrant at a home in the same road and three more men, aged between 29 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

An air rifle, air pistol and snap bags of 'white powder' were also seized during a search.

All four men remain in custody for questioning and an investigation is underway.

A GMP spokesman said: "Police were called around 8.50pm yesterday (22 November 2021) to a report of a male with a potential firearm walking along Parkhills Road, Bury.

"Armed officers were swiftly deployed to the area and a 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He remains in custody for questioning.

"Following further enquiries a warrant was executed at an address on Parkhills Road that evening and three additional men were arrested.

"The men, aged between 29 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. They remain in custody for questioning.

"An air rifle, air pistol and snap bags of white powder were uncovered during a search of the property.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
