Four arrested after fighting at Leeds United derby against Barnsley

Four people have been arrested after a brawl broke out during Leeds United's game against Barnsley.

Fans appeared to clash with stewards at Oakwell stadium on Sunday, September 15, after loanee Eddie Nketiah gave Leeds the lead in the 84th minute.

South Yorkshire Police say three people were arrested on suspicion of public order offences.

A 24-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assault and released under investigation while the investigation continues.

Police are expected to release more details about the men later today.

Several fans were escorted out of the ground during the second half of the Championship match, which Leeds won 2-0, and some appeared to be bloodied.

After the game, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa said: "I feel pity that something like that happened, but I didn't see it.”

While a club spokesman said: "Leeds United and Barnsley Football Club are greatly disappointed by reports of violence at yesterday’s game and will be working together to assess the matter."
