At first glance it might look like a very well-appointed shed or one of those smart home offices that some people have at the bottom of the garden, but behind the front door lies a whole house.
The property, described by the agents as a “bright and airy one bedroom detached house” is on the market for £280,000, which is £92,000 more than the average cost of a home in the UK, according to the latest Nationwide index.
As you will have guessed from the price tag, it is in south-east London - in Brenchley Gardens, Forest Hill.
Although it looks small from the outside, the property offers 415 sq ft of living space. That’s more than double the size of this small home in north London, which was marketed for £275,000, and boasts off-street parking as well as gardens to the front and back.
As a result, the agents Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward, say that since the house went on the market a few weeks ago there has been “a healthy level of interest” from buyers.
A spokeswoman said viewers had been drawn by the internal specifications and location, “however a few have noted its exterior appearance”.
