'Found a way' - How Liverpool players reacted to Aston Villa win

By Charlotte Coates

Virgil van Dijk was 'happy to get the assist' after Liverpool came from a goal down to move level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League on Tuesday night with 2-1 win over Aston Villa.

Liverpool beat Steven Gerrard's side at Villa Park but made hard work of it after falling behind in the third minute. Joel Matip quickly drew the Reds level before Sadio Mane 's header secured the three points in the second half.

City take on Wolves at Molineux tonight before they travel to London to battle West Ham United on Sunday. The day before Liverpool are in FA Cup final action as they go head-to-head with Chelsea at Wembley.

The equaliser at Villa came after the ball broke for Van Dijk in the box - with the Dutchman's chip over Emiliano Martinez falling to centre-back partner Matip, who was able to tap the ball into the back of the net.

Van Dijk took to Twitter after the game and said: "Found a way! Nice to get an assist also. See you all at Wembley, Reds."

Midfielder James Milner didn't make it on the pitch at Villa Park but he still expressed his happiness at the result on social media after the game: "Big away win, 4 more big performances needed."

Match-winner Mane posted a brief message to his team-mates on his Instagram account: "Great performance lads."

Diogo Jota, who started alongside Mane and Luis Diaz in the front three at Villa Park, put on his Instagram account to 'fight and believe' after the Reds came from behind to keep their quadruple dream alive.
