Grim duvet cover death of ex-Scots UKIP candidate in London flat ruled as not suspicious

A teacher and former UKIP candidate who was found face down wrapped in his duvet died from natural causes, an inquest heard yesterday.

Inverness-born Ramsay Urquhart, 33, was discovered in an east London flat in April 2019 and his father Murdo believed he may have been attacked.

Pathologist Dr Rowena Smith told the hearing a post-mortem revealed he had been dead for “days rather than hours”. She ruled out foul play and said the cause of death was “unascertained”.

The coroner heard it was likely Ramsay had suffered a diabetic attack, or sudden adult death syndrome. He had previously experienced hypoglycaemic episodes.

The hearing continues.
