Free agent Steven Boyd is set for a switch to Peterhead after training with Airdrieonians.
Boyd has been without a club since leaving East Fife after a short-term deal at the club netting three times in 10 appearances at Bayview.
Boyd, who can play as a striker or in midfield, was offered use of training facilities at the Penny Cars Stadium. However, no deal was put on the table by the Diamonds.
The Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser understands that Jim McInally's men now lead the race for his signature.
The 22-year-old has spent time on loan at Albion Rovers s and Livingston but failed to make the breakthrough at parent club Hamilton Accies.
He was released last summer from his New Douglas Park deal.
