Forty people roll back the years with school reunion in Castle Douglas

A special school reunion took place at the Market Inn in Castle Douglas.

Forty people who had been together at Castle Douglas Primary in the 1960s, as well as a few who were classmates at the high school, got together for an evening of memories.

One of the organisers, Helen Maxwell, said: “Some of us hadn’t seen each other for more than 50 years.

“People came from as far away as St Andrew’s, Surrey, Darlington, Lincoln and Cumbria and there were a lot of people from the local area as well.

“There were people from all walks of life, from a police chief inspector to joiners and builders.

“Everyone was given a name badge when they came in and the women’s were written with their maiden names so it was easier for people to work out who they were.”
