Slaven Bilic has ensured his strategy for Croatia's crucial World Cup qualifier against England on Wednesday remains as secret as possible by training behind closed doors today in Zagreb.
Bilic says he has identified weaknesses in Fabio Capello's line-up and thinks fortune owes his team a favour after the Euro 2008 quarter-final defeat to Turkey, when Croatia conceded a late extra-time equaliser to Semih Senturk after Ivan Klasnic's 119th-minute strike appeared to have put them through. Croatia lost on penalties, leaving Bilic to reflect today: "We were extremely unlucky."
The coach, who had planned to play Vedran Corluka on the left of his defence at Wembley, has to rethink following the Tottenham defender's dismissal during the 1-0 victory over Belarus on Saturday.
The manner of that win caused concern in Croatia after three vital saves were needed by Vedran Runje to secure three points from a match in which Croatia had only Ivan Ratikic's winner on target. It is thought Bilic's replacement for Corluka may be his only change for Wednesday.
