Fortnite users launch #FreeJarvis campaign after Brit teen is banned for cheating

Last night, a British teenager hit the headlines when he was banned from playing Fortnite after being caught cheating.

Jarvis Kaye, otherwise known as FaZe Jarvis, broadcast a video of him using ‘aimbots’ - a tactic that is banned on Fortnite - to his two million YouTube fans.

Epic Games, the developer behind Fortnite, immediately banned Jarvis from the game, despite the fact that he claimed he was unaware using aimbots was forbidden.

Following the ban, Jarvis posted a tearful apology, claiming that he ‘wish(ed) he had known how severe the consequences were at the time.’

Now, fans of the YouTube star have launched a campaign to get Jarvis re-instated on Fortnite, with the hashtag #FreeJarvis.

One user wrote: “What Fortnite did to jarvis is so bad. He doesn’t deserve that. He’s made such an impact on the fortnite community and for them to just take it all away like that is dumb. He deserves another chance!! #FreeJarvis”

Another added: “Jarvis did a bad decision using aimbot on Fortnite for content on YouTube, but perma ban is not the answer. Jarvis is one of the best Fortnite players and this will completely ruin his Fortnite career. Everybody does mistakes. #freejarvis”

And one wrote: “Yo @FortniteGame unban @liljarviss. guy spent hours of his lifetime into your game and spent thousands of dollars into your game.Jarvis is a really skilled player. He had a lot of potentian, but you banned a successful player FOR LIFE.#FreeJarvis”

However, not everyone is on board with the hashtag, with many praising Epic Games’ decision to ban Jarvis.

One user tweeted: “FaZe Jarvis was cheating/hacking and got perma-banned. What did he expect? “

And one added: “#FreeJarvis Boohoo... Well deserved lifetime ban - people like you have spoiled the game for everyone.”
