Fortnite Chapter 3 is here and with it, a new ongoing quest to fight back against IO. Here on day one, we are being given a new quest to “Discover the Device,” which is something of unknown origin that will help us in our fight. This seems similar to the Sloane quest from last time, but hopefully this will end in…less betrayal.
So, where is The Device? Fortnite has helpfully put it in a bunch of different locations around the map so everyone is not flocking to the same spot. But the common thread is that it is in buildings controlled by AI soldiers that looks like some sort out outpost from Mos Eisley.
You only need to find one of these, but here’s where they are on the black map, before you uncover it.
I might be missing one or two, but that is plenty to get you started.
In all these areas, look for the Seven base, and then go into the buildings like this.
And look for the briefcase on the ground.
The Device is only the first step in what is going to be a very very long quest, where future steps have you sabotaging drills, finding and protecting black boxes, taking readings from seismometers. What are we doing? Who knows, but if The Rock tells me to do something, I do it. Sorry, The Foundation. Easy to get those confused.
The other challenges this week seem pretty straightforward. The Daily Bugle is in the giant crater and will be a named POI once you discover it, so that isn’t exactly hard to locate. As for more Device quests, those will come in future weeks, and we’ll see where all this leads by the end of the season.
