Fortnite servers are back online as Epic Games roll out the latest patch version 12.60, which is the second-to-last update for the current season of the popular battle royale game.

This new update has been long-anticipated by fans and some people are reporting it has brought a lot of new changes.

The biggest speculation at the moment is this patch is introducing assets for the season-ending 'Doomsday Event', which is drawing ever closer.

A popular data miner iFiremonkey discovered a file titled 'Fritter' which might be linked with the Doomsday device located at 'The Agency'.

Epic Games confirmed the downtime for Fortnite earlier today as the game was taken offline at 7am BST.

The game has been offline for roughly four hours now, which is a longer time than usual when bringing in new patches.

A Reddit thread which collects and shares known issues or changes has some reports of aim assist now not working when using Gyro controls on the Nintendo Switch.

We can expect to see new challenges rolled out in this update and new skins coming to and leaving the shop, with reports that the original, and highly coveted, Recon Expert skin is making a return.

Fortnite is available to play for free on PC, Andriod, iOS, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and Mac.
