Here’s one thing about the new mission system in Fortnite: it means there are whole bunch of challenges. A set of weekly challenges now comes with not 7 but 14 challenges, dramatically upping the number of tasks that someone trying to get the season’s challenge skin will have to complete. It’s actually not too far off from last season, when we had to both collect Fortbytes and complete weekly challenges in order to unlock the Singularity Skin. But there’s no shortage of stuff to do this time around, which is good if you were getting bored.
So let’s take a look at the full list of Spray and Pray challenges, which is what we’re calling Week 2 challenges this time around. Many of them are pretty straightforward: search chests, eliminate opponents with this or that, etc. Some, as usual, require a little bit more guidance. Here they are:
Normal:
- Deal damage with SMGs to opponents (500)
- Spray a Fountain, a Junkyard Crane, and a Vending machine (1)
- Spray different Gas Stations (3)
- Find lost Spraycans (5)
- Deal damage to opponent structures with a Minigun (3,000)
- Eliminate opponents with an SMG less than 15m away (3)
- Search Chests at Tilted (7)
Prestige:
- Eliminations with an SMG in a single match (2)
- Search Chests inside containers with windows (5)
- Spray cars or trucks in different Named Locations (6)
- Visit graffiti-covered billboards in a single match (2)
- Damage opponents with a Minigun (500)
- Eliminate opponents with an SMG less than 5m away (5)
- Eliminate opponents in Tilted with the Tilted Teknique outfit (5)
That should get you done with the challenges this week, though it’s going to take you a little while. There are 15 total eliminations on this list, which is a pretty big ask considering we rarely saw more than 3-5 with the old weekly challenges. Still, the prestige challenges are somewhat optional, though not if you’re going for the challenge skin.
I’m torn about the new system. I like that there’s so much to do, but I do wonder about things getting a little bit unwieldy. I suppose we’ll know how successful the experiment has been when we see whatever it is Epic gets up to next season: things were pretty stable through most of 2018, but it appears we’re changing things up on the regular here in 2019.
