Fortnite’s annual Fortnitemares event has begun, where players are tasked with fighting monsters on the map, but this time, it’s heavily tied into the ongoing storyline of this season.
Fortnitemares has finally revealed the ultimate antagonist of the season, the Cube Queen, whom we heard from when the season opened, and she’s some sort of leader of the army of sentient cubes that have been rolling around the map and multiplying, ultimately forming a new POI in the center of the map.
Now, we have our first look at the Cube Queen and her variants, which you can see above and below. She’s not available yet, but will be soon.

Fortnitemares has a few new tricks up its sleeve this time, including a new giant Caretaker monster that is absolutely massive and will require a ton of sustained firepower to bring down. Here’s how big it is compared to an actual player:

There’s also a new weapon called the Sideways Scythe, which may look like a mining tool, but is definitely not that. Here’s what it looks like in action, possibly one of the best melee weapons the game has ever gotten:
Past that, a returning celebrity is getting a new bundle of skin styles. We have new Ariana Grande variants, one which turns her full-on evil in time for Halloween, and two others which are more fun spacesuit type costumes.

The “Wrath of the Cube Queen” event has begun today and will end November 2, so it’s not long for this world. There are items to earn, monsters to kill and LTMs to play, so don’t waste any time hopping in to participate while you can. Definitely check out the middle of the map for the new Convergence POI, and I suspect that will last through the event and be a part of the next phase of whatever the cubes and their queen are planning for the end of the season. They’ve already blown up the island once, and that was only one of them. What does an entire cube city mean for the fate of the island this time, along with a very clearly evil leader to direct them?
This looks like probably the best iteration of Fortnitemares yet, and I’m excited to hop in today. See you out there.
