- Fortnite, the popular video game, has announced it will approve refunds for all in-game cosmetic items associated with singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke.
- This decision comes after Burke, 21, was charged last week with the sexual abuse, murder, and mutilation of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose dismembered body was found in his abandoned Tesla in September in the Hollywood Hills.
- Burke, who gained fame through Fortnite gaming montages featuring his music, had previously collaborated with Epic Games, releasing an emote for his track “Feel It” in 2024 and the game's first official anthem, “Locked and Loaded,” in 2025.
- District Attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed the charges, which include first-degree murder and lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, noting that Burke has pleaded not guilty and is being held on bail, with the charges potentially carrying the death penalty if convicted.
- Players who purchased D4vd-related items, such as the “Feel It” emote or tracks like “What Are You Waiting For,” can request refunds via player support immediately, with a self-service refund option becoming available from Tuesday, April 28th, marking a first for Fortnite regarding celebrity product refunds.
