Halloween Horror Nights will play host to Fortnite this year at Universal Studios Orlando, according to an announcement made on the company’s social media.
Every year, Universal Studios in both Orlando, FL, and Hollywood, CA, hosts Halloween Horror Nights–a months-long event full of haunted houses, scare zones, and endless jump scares. This year, HHN is folding in something a little different for the line-up by including a Halloween-themed version of Fortnite.

Fortnitemares heads to HHN
Announcements for new haunted houses and scare zones at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights have been trickling out in a steady stream, adding more and more licensed and original attractions to the event. These include Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Hellraiser, Stranger Things, and Sinners for the licensed haunted houses. Now, Fortnite is part of that line-up with a scare zone called “Fortnitemares”.
There aren’t many details as to how Fortnite will be represented at HHN, but based on the teaser image, it seems likely that actors in the park will wear outfits to match iconic Fortnite skins with a more grounded version of the Bus on display somewhere.
Disappointingly, this collaboration with a major video game IP isn’t in the form of a haunted house, which are traditionally the main draw for HHN. Instead, Fortnite is featured in a “scare zone”, a dedicated section of the park dressed up for its theme and full of costumed actors prowling the crowds to jump scare attendees.
More video games have been featured at HHN
Over the past few years, more and more video game franchises have been added to Halloween Horror Nights. Just last year, both Five Nights at Freddy’s and Fallout each had their own haunted houses, though it’s important to note that those houses were based off of the film and TV adaptation of each respective game.
Here, Fortnite is breaking the mold by being added to the Halloween event entirely on its own, with no live-action adaptation to pull from. Perhaps the fact that Fortnite hasn’t had any sort of movie or show is why it hasn’t earned a full fledged haunted house, but the very inclusion of the game is a good sign for the future inclusion of video games at the event.
