Fortnite is back online with Chapter 2 after series 10 finished with black hole

Fortnite is back online after almost two days away. The popular free-to-play video game had been down since Sunday evening, when the map disappeared and was replaced with a black hole.

Its developers, Epic Games, have now launched the latest version of the shooter, 'Fortnite Chapter 2'. Players who can not yet log on should download the latest update to access Fortnite Chapter 2.

Chapter 2 has a host of new features, as well as an entirely new map for players to enjoy. There is a new XP system, you can hide in hay bails and you can explode gas tanks to cause extra mayhem. This being Fortnite, there are new celebrations, too, while players can now swim, fish and drive a new boat, too.

The new island has 13 locations for players to drop in to - just in time for half term...

Fortnite's season 10 closed on Sunday night, leaving millions unable to play the shooting game. In Fortnite, up to 100 players take each other on in a battle royale/last-player-standing format.

Fortnite is free to play, but gamers can buy 'loot boxes' which offer cosmetic updates, which do not offer a gameplay advantage.  It is available on PS4, Xbox One, Windows, iOS, Switch and Android.
