The World Cup starts tonight, and Fortnite: Battle Royale isn’t exactly letting this opportunity pass it by. Earlier this week, developer Epic Games dropped a massive soccer stadium onto the top of the map along with a bunch of makeshift pitches all over the place, and this morning it introduced a weekly challenge that asked players to go forth and score some goals. Tonight we got six soccer jersey skins you can buy in the store: 3 male and 3 female. And they’re customizable, to boot: here’s how you can change the number and country on your World Cup skins.
The process should be familiar to anyone that’s played around with the Carbide or Omega skins, which were the first customizable outfits introduced into Fortnite: Battle Royale, followerd by “The Visitor” skin earlier today. To start with, you’ve got to go to the store to buy the skin you want out of the six in total, and then go to the locker page and select “outfits.”

If you select the World Cup skin on the outfit page, you should see a little “edit style” button at the top of the page. Click it, and you’ll be able to select from any of the countries represented in the game, These aren’t the official FIFA jerseys, just representations of the country’s colors with a little flag on a crest. According to the game, Fortnite is a country. You can also change the number to reflect your favorite player: the number is both on the back and on the shorts for those that choose to wear a back bling. No judgment!
After that, you’re ready to go: here’s my US player:

It’s a great option: both something that players have been asking for forever and something that is bound to dramatically increase the rate at which trucks full of money are pulling up to Epic’s offices. We missed our chance to choose teams for the NBA finals, but I hope we can see this sort of thing more in the future, hopefully with some official partnerships that can showcase real uniforms.
