Fortissat Youth Forum held an afternoon tea to raise awareness of what they do

Fortissat Youth Forum held an afternoon tea in Shotts on Saturday to raise awareness of the work they are doing in the community.

Formerly known as Shotts Youth Forum, the age of the group ranges from 15-21 and there are eight members.

Iain Whyte, youth development officer at Getting Better Together, said: “This is an opportunity to introduce themselves to community members and stakeholders and make sure people know they are here and want to be involved in future community developments.”

The day saw presentations from three local groups of young people: Shotts Police Youth Volunteers, Getting Better Together’s Youth Volunteers and Fortissat Youth Forum as well as a speech from local Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament, Sarah Quinn.

Youth forum member Aislinn Watters said: “It was a great day and great to see so many people interested in finding out what local young people are doing and how to include us in future community development.”
