Forthriver Dale incident leads to large PSNI operation

A man has been detained following an incident in North Belfast on Tuesday night.

There was a large police presence in the Forthriver Dale area for much of the evening with TSG and uniform officers in attendance.

It is understood the incident was resolved without any major incident.

The PSNI has released limited details on the incident.

A spokesman said: “Police received a report of a person in distress at a property in the Forthriver Dale area of north Belfast shortly before 6:55pm yesterday evening (Tuesday, 31st March).

“A man, aged in his fifties, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and two counts of assault on police. He is currently assisting police with their enquiries.”
