Cops in Falkirk are advising motorists who use the A9 through Larbert to take an alternative route following complaints about roadworks in the area.
Officers say the work is causing significant delays, especially between the roundabouts for Forth Valley Royal Hospital and the M876 at Larbert.
Some staff who work there have reported being trapped in tailbacks within the hospital car park for over an hour, with concerns raised about ambulances also being stuck in the carnage.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the route during peak times.
Posting on Facebook, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: "There are currently roadworks between the roundabouts for the hospital and M876 at Larbert which is causing significant delays during peak times.
"An alt route would be to exit the M80 at J6, travel on the A803 towards Falkirk then turn north onto the A9 at the Camelon Roundabout."
