Forth Bridge restaurant slams no shows and introduces new fee for diners

A local eatery has slammed customers who book but don't show up, leaving tables empty as they get back on their feet after coronavirus.

The Wee Restaurant in North Queensferry took to Twitter to say they had introduced a deposit of £10 per head because of repeated no shows.

They said rude customers had repeatedly failed to turn up after booking a table, and blanked phone calls from the restaurant when they were contacted.

"Due to the continued poor behaviour of some who book tables, don’t show up & then don’t answer their phone we have changed our booking policy.

"All guests will now have to pay £10 per person deposit when they book online. We are sorry if this is slightly inconvenient.

"We are sorry if this is slightly inconvenient but we have been left with no choice. I would think that most people would understand we are a small business," the small business owners said.

They revealed on Facebook how before the pandemic hit they had barely any no shows, but now they have one every service.

A number of other restaurants responded to their post telling of similar experiences, and other shows their support.

One said: "Don’t blame you at all - I’m amazed at how many restaurant staff have been abused during ‘eat out’ - what is wrong with this world? Is it me or are people getting to be selfish, impatient and just plain rude".
