
Fortescue Metals Group shipped no more iron ore in its second quarter than it did in the corresponding 2019 period as COVID-19 restrictions limit exports.
The Western Australian company on Thursday said its shipped 46.4 million tonnes (mt) during its December quarter.
Chief executive Elizabeth Gaines said staff were managing COVID-19 challenges, including border restrictions.
The amount of ore mined slipped eight per cent to 50mt.
The company is due to give its half-year earnings on February 18.
There was no change to full-year guidance of ore shipments of 175mt to 180mt.
Shares were lower by 3.51 per cent to $22.85 at 1120 AEDT amid a wider market downturn.
