Fort Hood soldier reported missing

A Fort Hood soldier has been declared missing after missing work last week, officials said.

Spc. Abram Salas II failed to show up for his shift on Wednesday, and law enforcement, his chain-of-command and family members have all been unable to make contact, according to the Fort Hood Directorate of Emergency Services.

Officials said Saturday an initial investigation determined that Salas “left for unknown reasons on his own accord” and may be in the San Antonio area, more than two hours south.

Salas is described as a Hispanic male, 5′ 6″ with black hair and brown eyes.

He may be driving a four-door white Dodge Dart with a Texas license plate NFP-2796.

Anyone who sees him or has information on his disappearance is asked to contact the Fort Hood Military Police at 254-288-1170.

At least 25 soldiers stationed at Fort Hood died last year by suicide, homicide or accidents.
