Forrest Compton death: Twilight Zone and Edge of Night actor dies of coronavirus aged 94

Twilight Zone actor Forrest Compton has died of coronavirus, aged 94.

According to Shelter Island Reporter, the news was announced by close friends of the actor.

In 1963, he appeared in Twilight Zone episode “The Thirty-Fathom Grave” alongside Mike Kellin and Simon Oakland.

Compton was also known for playing Lieutenant Colonel Edward Gray in 1960s sitcom Gomer Pyle, USMC and Mike Karr in US soap The Edge of Night from 1970-84.

His other credits include 77 Sunset Strip, Hogan’s Heroes and the Christopher Walken film McBain (1991).

Compton studied acting at Yale Drama School at the same time as Paul Newman after serving with the 103rd Infantry Division in France during the Second World War.

After a five decade career, he retired from acting in 2002.

Other famous figures to have died from coronavirus include comedian Eddie Large, Fountains of Wayne star Adam Schlesinger and Jaws actor Lee Fiero.
