Formula One teams set to vote on £117m budget cap for 2021 season after final offer

Formula One team bosses have been given a final take-it-or-leave-it budget offer to mull over for the 2021 season.

The sport's bosses want to cap budgets at the very top end of £117million per team, with a hope to slash it as low as £100m in the 2023-25 seasons.

Ferrari have been vocal opponents to the proposal, but the fortitude of their objections have waned with a change in rules by the F1 World Council in light of the coronavirus pandemic, allowing for a majority vote rather than the previous unanimous one to push proposals through.

The sum was decided upon by F1 chairman Chase Carey, managing director Ross Brawn and FIA president Jean Todt, with teams expected to vote in the next 48 hours before a potential meeting at the end of the week.
