Formula One star Lando Norris' "£40,000 watch stolen" at Wembley amid fan chaos

Bristol-born Formula One star Lando Norris reportedly had his £40,000 watch stolen at Wembley amid fans causing chaos.

The 21-year-old was in the capital during England's historic final against Italy when the stadium was overrun, reports the Sun.

After the game, the motor racing star was reportedly ambushed by thieves as he got into his £165,000 McLaren GT supercar.

He is believed to have been grabbed by one while another tore off his prototype Richard Mille watch.

An eyewitness told The Sun: “Lando was held and another robber pulled off his watch in a split second. Lando looked pretty shaken up. Security had been a nightmare all night.”

McLaren Racing issued a statement on Twitter saying: "McLaren Racing can confirm that Lando Norris was involved in an incident, after the Euro 2020 final match at Wembley, during which the watch he was wearing was taken.

"Thankfully, Lando was unharmed but he is understandably shaken. The team is supporting Lando and we are sure that racing fans will join us in wishing him all the best for the British Grand Prix this weekend.

"As this is now a police matter we cannot comment further."

The driver's father, Adam Norris, is among Bristol's richest people, with a fortune in excess of £200million.

Much of that wealth is built upon a stake in Bristol-based investments firm Hargreaves Lansdown, owned by Robins chairman Steve Lansdown, hence Norris Jr's gateway to supporting City.

However, you are unlikely to see the 21-year-old enjoying a pint in The Three Lions before leading the chants at Ashton Gate anytime soon.

He previously said: "He continued: "(I supported) Bristol City then (as a child), and I feel like people are going to slate me for it, but then it was Man U, but only when (Cristiano) Ronaldo was there. That was the team I supported when Ronaldo was there.

"But I don’t watch football anymore, I’m not a football fan, so (I support) no-one."
